Sustainability claims are easy; sustainable operations are specific. In our plants, the commitment shows up in three unglamorous places: feedstock choices that favour renewable resources, process energy audited and reduced line by line, and water recovered rather than discharged.
It also shows up in what we sell. Flocculants that improve water conservation, treatment programs that cut sludge disposal, decolourising chemistry that reduces downstream processing — much of speciality chemistry's environmental impact is the impact it removes from a customer's operation.
Certifications like ISO 14001 keep the discipline honest, but the real test is a simple question asked at every capital decision: does this reduce the footprint per tonne shipped? When the answer drives the spend, the slogan takes care of itself.
